ALL first-year law applications, personal statements, and supporting documentation MUST be received by our December 1st deadline. The January writing of the LSAT is the last sitting that we will accept for this application cycle; however, we strongly encourage applicants to take the LSAT prior to the January test date. An applicant who wishes to rely on the January LSAT score may diminish their chance of gaining admission due to the delayed review of their file and the possibility that there may no longer be positions available in the upcoming entry class. Applications from candidates who write the January LSAT will not be considered complete and will not be reviewed until all elements, including the January LSAT score, are received. After the complete file is reviewed, if it is considered competitive with other applicants for a place in the upcoming entry class and if a position is still available, the applicant may either be admitted or placed on a wait list.

The deadline for upper-level applicants (Transfer, Letter of Permission, Advanced Standing) is April 30th, except for law transcripts, which are due as soon as final grades have been released (typically the first week of June) as upper-level decisions are typically made by the end of June.

Before you begin the application, please carefully read the following information and acknowledge that you understand below:

• Official transcripts must be sent to us directly from your institutions (including official in-progress, exchange and transfer transcripts) by December 1st (April 30th for Upper-Year applicants).
• The JD Admissions office can obtain your official UBC transcript on your behalf; however, you still need to send us any additional transcripts for credits obtained through transfer and exchange institutions.
• We do not request transcripts from your institutions or LSAC’s CAS service. It is your responsibility to request all the required transcripts and documents and have them sent directly to the JD Admissions office by the application deadline.
• Please be aware that this application includes writing components and mandatory course-by-course grade input. Please allow yourself approximately one hour to complete all sections. We recommend having your personal statement ready beforehand in pdf or doc format.
• If you are applying under the Discretionary or Indigenous categories, 2 references are required. References must send us their letters directly to admissions@allard.ubc.ca before the December 1st deadline (April 30th for Upper Year applicants).
